History
of
Sir Leslie Wilson Scout District
The District was formed in 1959 and the Groups in the District at that time were:-
Enoggera, Everton Park, Grovely, Mitchelton and 3rd Newmarket (Corbie Park).
These Groups, prior to the formation of the District, were part of the Brisbane North District.
The remaining Groups joined the District as they were formed, they are:-
Samford (formed 1962, closed 1974, reopened 1980);
Alderley (formed 1963) met at a den in Sicklefield Street that is now the Brisbane North Region HQ;
Lehi (formed 1969, closed 2001) a group sponsored by the Gaythorne Mormon (LDS) Church;
Camden Park (formed 1970, closed 2002) met at a den in Dinterra Avenue;
Grinstead Park (formed Venturers & Rovers only in 1976, expanded to a full group in 68/69. The group closed in 1980, Rovers and Venturers continued until 2004);
Wahminda Park (formed 1980);
McDowall Bunya (formed 1981), originally in Wonargo District and was transferred to SLW District in 1989; and
Mitchelton amalgamated with Grovely on 22 April 2004.
B.P. Park (incorporated into the district 1977 - Rovers only). Was formed as a Rover Group attached to B.H.Q and was never formally attached to SLW District;
